lotus flower. 

lotus flower contains vitamins such as vitamin C, which protects the skin from free radicals, and minerals including potassium to assist with hydration. lotus flower also contains fatty acids, flavonoids and proteins, which help to strengthen connective tissue. lotus flower's anti-inflammatory properties assist in calming redness and swelling, while restoring the skin's natural pigmentation. 

lychee fruit.

lychee is a a fleshy, white, sweet fruit with a floral scent. its extract derived from the fruit is rich in natural vitamin C. it also provides significant antioxidant and rejuvenating properties, and has been shown to help brighten skin tone. 

Centella asiatica.

sourced from Madagascar and India, this antioxidant is a medicinal herb widely used in for the treatment of skin diseases and wound healing. scientific studies show that topical application of Centella asiatica on wounds increases the rate of healing by stimulating the production of type I collagen. it also contains bioactive compounds with anti-inflammatory activity, and has been used to treat burns, ulcers, and to prevent scar formation.

elderberry.

elderberries possess a large number of phytonutrients with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, including caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, ferulic acid, and quercetin. they also contain anthocyanins, which help boost the immune system. the bioflavonoids found in elderberries are astringent, helping to tighten the skin and provide anti-wrinkle benefits. elderberry is also an excellent source of undecylenic acid, an organic fatty acid with antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties.

plum.

oil extracted from the kernel of the plum contains nourishing omega fatty acids and vitamins A and E. it intensely hydrates, and is absorbed readily into the skin. our plum seed oil is certified organic.

ylang ylang.

although ylang ylang is best known for its rich floral fragrance, it has demonstrated anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant activity. a study examining effects on melanogenesis (the formation of pigment of skin) found that several compounds isolated from the flower can inhibit the production of melanin. inhalation of the scent of ylang ylang significantly decreases blood pressure while promoting relaxation. finally, it is believed to act as an aphrodisiac. our ylang ylang essential oil is steam distilled from the flowers of the plant and is certified organic.

what is a crème? 

a crème is the French translation for “cream”. we prefer this version of the term as it describes the product beautifully – light and fluffy, but with some serious substance. it’s one step heavier than a lotion and deeply hydrates.

when and how do I use a facial crème or cream?

we love to use it twice daily, after our morning and evening cleanses. begin with our oatmeal cleansing milk, follow with the lotus flower & rosewater toner, and then apply the jasmine serum to damp skin. follow with the lotus & lychee facial crème if needed, and finish with your bakuchiol & pomegranate facial oil to lock in moisture.  

why is it important to use a facial cream or crème?

using a face cream or crème helps to retain the moisture and elasticity in your skin, reducing wrinkles, age spots and fine lines. face creams and crèmes also act as a protective barrier for your skin.

are face cream and moisturizer the same?

a moisturizer is used to restore hydration in the skin, while a cream or crème also adds a barrier layer to seal in moisture.

what is a face cream made of?

creams and crèmes are made of oil and water, which are combined with use of an emulsifier. the concentration of the oil can be increased or decreased to make the product creamier or lighter, as desired.

can men use this product?

this crème is quite gentle, but men should exercise care with use if they have just shaved as we’ve included ylang ylang essential oil. but don’t worry, we have a little something just for you: anokha man.
